After a mixed start to 2007 including a win in stage 5 of the Bay Cycling Classic and withdrawal from the Australian Open Road Championships, Simon has headed over to Adelaide to defend his Tour Down Under title.

Simon joined his Ag2r team mates on Monday morning with a light ride around the streets of Adelaide prior to attending the official Team Presentation of the 9th edition of the race. ‘I’m feeling positive about the race this year. The team has sent out a strong group of guys and we are keen to defend the title’. When asked about possible contenders for the race, Simon was keeping all options open. ‘It is always hard to know who will be contenders at a race like this, being at the start of the season, however I think that Team CSC with Stuart O’Grady and South Australia.com with Gene Bates will be the on-form teams to watch’.
