Simon will take part in his 4th Amstel Gold Race this weekend. After a solid performance last year, he is looking forward to the start in Maastricht Square on Sunday.
"I think Amstel suits me more than Fleche and Liege because of the punchy climbs and the style of racing. I've always loved competing in this race and I keep getting better at it with experience. It's is definitely one race I would love to add to my palmarès".
"I do put pressure on myself to achieve but that is how I race well. The team has been great leading up to the Ardennes races. There has been no pressure from their end, just support and assistance so I get to the start in the best shape possible. I had a bit of a hiccup with the crash at Criterium International but I'm starting to feel better the closer the race gets".
Team SKY also has Brad Wiggins and Kjell Carlström who are in form and more than capable of performing in the Ardennes. Russell Downing, who is coming off a solid result in Criterium International, is also motivated to achieve well so there is not doubt that Team SKY will have a number cards up their sleeve come Sunday.
Team SKY for Amstel Gold Race:
Kjell Carlstrom, Russell Downing, Chris Froome, Simon Gerrans, Mathew Hayman, Lars-Petter Nordhaug, Davide Vigano and Bradley Wiggins
