As the Tour is well into the Pyrenees, the race for overall honours has come down to a two-man race…Gerrans vs Renshaw. Just kidding, but while we are battling it out for who can drink the most coffee down at our local brew shop, the real battle is on between Contador and Andy Schleck. Let me just add that we would both rather be on the Tour with the rest of the guys than drinking coffee and watching the race on tv.

In typical 2010 Tour de France fashion, the race has continued to be riddled with controversy. We saw Schleck following Contador on stage 14 into Aix-3 Domaines where the riders virtually came to a stop while marking each other up the final climb. On stage 15, Contador rode away from Schleck after he suffered a mechanical, which is a bit of a no-no in cycling.
Tomorrow’s stage 12 into Mende will be a really exciting stage to watch. Not only is it a good stage for a breakaway but there will also be a great battle for GC with a steep uphill finish into Mende.

This is the same route that we raced over earlier in the year in Paris-Nice. On that occasion, Contador won the stage in convincing fashion so it will be interesting to see what he can do tomorrow against the likes of Andy Schleck and Sanchez. It will also be a great indication to see how the guys fair on a steep climb like what we will see next week in the Pyrenees.
